Yes, you read it right. I am writing this blog post from my hotel room in Ranchi, the home of one of the world's greatest cricketers, MS Dhoni. I left Bangalore in the morning and came to Ranchi via Delhi. We have two CCL matches scheduled for tomorrow but chances are dim for those matches to take place because of the inconsistent weather for the past two days. If it continues to rain tomorrow as well, then we'll not have any play.
It was raining when I arrived in Ranchi and I got a dedicated car to take me from Airport to Hotel. While passing through the streets of Ranchi, I couldn't stop myself from thinking about MS Dhoni. All the time I was imagining him on the streets because this is where he grew up, this is where it all started and now he regarded as an all time great. Although many are against him, quoting his lack of technique and informal approach to the game but you can't take away what he has done for India. He has brought all the laurels to Indian cricket team. You name it: ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy, #1 ranking in test, #1 ranking in ODIs and other titles like IPL and Champions League as well. Our bowling attack is pathetic and batting also falters overseas, but despite all that he has managed to form a match winning combination every time.
He did not get formal training like all other greats but is still regarded as one of the most dangerous batsmen in current era. You don't need textbook shots to win matches. You need determination and calmness, fighting spirit and logical thinking, street smartness and courage to defy convention. He has got all of it. That's why he is called captain cool! Most people have questioned his decisions at different points but he has proved them all wrong every single time. He is the one who successfully lead the transition from old star studded Indian team to a team of unknown youngsters. He has performed great as a captain without any big names in the team and I sincerely hope he continues doing so. You can find replacement for everyone else but not for him. That's why we all love him so much.
All the best MSD! And good night everyone :)
